The fan has a history rooted in both European and Asian cultures. It has been used to veil, cover, and mask the user's identity. I often feel this masking of my true self, often times hiding being an invisible fan. I use the fan as a metaphor to help embrace my biracial identity. It is my weapon of choice as I choose how I identify. I am privileged and proud to share two cultures.
